We were founded in 2005 by scientists working at MIT who saw the critical need for better instrumentation to study biology at the whole tissue and organ level. Since our founding our novel imaging instrumentation has been installed in laboratories worldwide and has been foundational for many major scientific initiatives.

 

Today we are continue our record for innovation. We have opened a contract research service at TissueMetrics that directly serves scientists working in drug development, and we have also recently been awarded additional National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation Research awards to develop innovative instrumentation and methods to help further drug development and biomedical research.

Job Title: Electrical Engineer / Imaging Scientist

Location: Newton, MA

 

TissueVision develops novel imaging and tissue analysis products to help researchers develop cures for diseases. Since founding the Company based on our research at MIT with high speed 3D tissue imaging, we have seen our products and services go on to be used by thousands of scientists in academia and industry across North America, Europe and Asia and result in major findings published in top journals.

We are looking to add an enthusiastic and experienced electrical engineer to our team.

As part of an interdisciplinary team you will be applying your EE skills broadly to help develop our next generation imaging and tissue processing hardware and services. This includes PCB board development, FPGA programming and analog electronics.

You will also be the lead on a cutting edge spectroscopy project that combines multi-gigahertz RF analog electronics and FPGA data processing to real-time process multi-gigabyte streams of fluorescence images. This project will be of particular importance in cancer and neurodegeneration conditions like Alzheimer's disease.

Responsibilities: Your primary role will be to help lead the development of our next generation imaging platform. This includes data acquisition, analog A/D and programming. We are particularly interested in a person that has experience with RF electronics, C++, and imaging.  As part of your role you will interact daily with other members of the team that include experienced optomechanical engineers, programmer, and biophysicists. While we need a candidate with specific technical skillsets, we appreciate a candidate who has a demonstrated ability to think through a problem.

This position would be ideal for a person with several years of industry experience at large or mid-size companies who is now looking to play a significant role in helping lead product development in the growing field of biomedical optics. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelors plus 5-10 years of experience

Job Title: Mechanical / Biomedical Engineer

Location: Newton, MA

TissueVision was founded by MIT researchers and develops tissue imaging hardware and services for the biomedical imaging market. Its products and services are used by major pharmaceutical companies, biotechs, and universities across North America, Europe, and Asia. We are dynamic company that is seeking to immediately hire a full time mechanical engineer to help develop the next generation of our biomedical imaging and tissue processing hardware products. 

Responsibilities: Your primary role will be to lead the development of novel automated platforms for processing, staining and imaging tissues and whole organs. This will involve mechatronics, fluid handling, and processing and sectioning of tissues. As part of this project you will interact with other members of the team include experienced optomechanical engineers, programmer, and biophysicists. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to work in a high visibility role in a smaller company on a cutting edge R&D at the forefront of biomedical engineering. Experience with fluidics, mechatronics, automation, and biological engineering will be helpful. We will place a strong emphasis on candidates that demonstrate the ability to think through a problem rather than a specific set of skills.

Job Title: Computer Scientist

We are looking to add an enthusiastic and experienced Computer Scientist to our team. 

As part of an interdisciplinary team you will be applying software engineering and data processing skills broadly to help develop high throughput image analysis pipelines, and novel data visualization, management and storage solutions.

One of the major problems in biomedical research today is that researchers don't have the right tools to answer crucial questions, especially when investigating the all-important tissue and organ levels of biology. We are making the tools that fill this need.  

As a member of our team you will be working directly with researchers and scientists in our Services group to develop novel image-based assays for biological discovery and disease pathologies for major pharmaceutical and biotech companies. In addition, you will also interact with our Product group including experienced optomechanical, biophysicists, electrical, and chemical engineers working to help develop our next generation imaging and tissue processing hardware.  

Responsibilities: Your primary role will be in developing software platforms for scaling our data/image processing  and analysis pipelines resulting from our internal system development and external client research endeavors. Through our work we generate and analyze TBs of imaging data from multiple whole organ/tissue types (brain, heart, kidney, tumor), that provide insight into critical pathological states of cancer, fibrosis, and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease.

We are looking for a candidate who has a strong record in developing frameworks for extracting and presenting meaningful data from large scale imaging datasets, and a strong background in computational programming and data science. This is a unique opportunity to develop novel platforms for image-based assays and multi-dimensional data visualization that will provide researchers and industry clients tools to answer foundational biological questions targeting some of the most difficult diseases of our time. This position would be ideal for a person with a strong technical background who is now looking to apply these skill sets to the growing field of biomedical image analysis and digital pathology. Salary is commensurate with experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Develop software tools to implement scalable pipelines for image data analysis and visualization.  

  • Facilitate in the development of computational tools for predicting and evaluating tissue specific pathology. 

  • Build and maintain database structures for large scale data storage and computation. 

  • Follow good coding practices. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • MS/PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, computational biology, or a related field. 

  • 1-3 years working in scientific computing. 

  • Ability to optimize code performance with the use of Data Structures/Algorithms for time and space complexity. 

  • Experience with scientific data visualization. 

  • Experience with AWS or other cloud-based data storage/computing. 

  • Familiarity with parallel computing and GPU programming.  

  • Strong coding in Python, JavaScript, MySQL/ PostgreSQL. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 

  • Familiarity with performance and regression testing for transition from development to production software.  

  • Familiarity of software deployment strategies for production - DevOps. 

  • Working knowledge of jQuery, Html, CSS.  

  • Experience with 3D data visualization - CUDA toolkit
